My husband and I had never fly fished before, and when we bumped into Jonathan with a big salmon in Cong, we decided to try it. Scheduling was hard because he’s so busy, but he changed his schedule to accommodate us. He picked us up at our hotel in Clifden and we went to a nearby lake. The fishing was great fun, even in the rain. We caught 14 trout between us! Jonathan provided boots for us, and taught us the technique which we quickly learned. It was really quiet and peaceful on the lake. The entire experience is one of the highlights of our trip to Connemara. I can highly recommend Jonathan as a fishing guide.
We opted not to buy the salmon fishing license for 36 euros per person per day. That would have been fun too, but as beginners we were happy with catching the trouts! Igor – June 2022

Jonathan is a really cool guy and an amazing guide. I took a private fly fishing lesson with him and it was great. He offered me some options for places we could go beforehand so I think if you go with him he can really tailor the experience to what you are looking for. In terms of the fishing Jonathan really knows all there is to know and you can tell he‘s been fishing all the waters of Connemara for years. Even though we had very bad conditions in terms of weather I still managed to catch some smaller fish in the end thanks to his help. So I think if you go with him on a cloudier day you will definitely catch some nice fish. Would recommend Jonathan to everyone looking to fish in Connemara no matter their experience.
